A new excellent cytoplasmic type of cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) line S10-2A with typical abortion type (TAT) from Minghui 63 was obtained by in vitro culture, which possesses high percentage of exerted stigma, strong vitality of stigma, big opening angle of spikelet, high flowering rate before noon and low percentage of cleistogamous spikelet. The restoring and maintaining relationship of S10-2A is completely different from that of WA type, HL type and BT type which have been widely used in hybrid rice produciton.
